RAD51 UP-REGULATION® is a dietary supplement specially indicated for preserving genomic integrity by amplifying the protein that directs homologous DNA repair: RAD51.
RAD51 UP-REGULATION® contains the active fraction RAD 51 -UP® from Tahitian Vanilla (Vanilla tahitensis) and Zinc. RAD51 UP-REGULATION® enables complete and faithful repair of DNA double-strand breaks. Homologous DNA repair is impaired in BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutation carriers.
This supplementation helps restore the levels of proteins involved in DNA repair and also normalises immune and antioxidant functions.
A weakened immune system is more susceptible to environmental viruses and bacteria. Certain vitamins, antioxidants and minerals are known to contribute to the proper functioning of the immune system. Zinc is one of the trace elements essential for good health, in particular by enabling normal protein and DNA synthesis and helping to preserve genomic integrity.
FORM AND PRESENTATION:

Genome stability and integrity
Genome stability is a fundamental characteristic of living beings. Maintaining genome stability is essential to us all. Instability leads to progressive general dysfunction. DNA double-strand breaks are toxic lesions for the future of a cell. They can be generated by exogenous sources (exposure to radiation, chemical molecules, etc.) or endogenous sources (inflammation, genomic mutation, repair misdirection, depression, repeated exposure to infections or anxiety-provoking situations, etc.).
To repair damage to both DNA strands, there are two types of repair: Non-homologous repair or NHEJ and homologous repair or HR.
Did you know? What does RAD51 mean?
RAD51 recombinase (RAD51) is a member of the RAD51 family of proteins. It is a gene that codes for a protein involved in homologous recombination and therefore DNA repair.
Homologous recombination is a DNA double-strand break repair pathway that protects the genome from chromosomal instability. It is a faithful repair system, because it copies an intact homologous sequence, which enables it to ensure genome stability.
RAD51 therefore protects against the mutagenic repair of DNA double-strand breaks, notably via the BRCA2 gene located on chromosome 13q12-q13 and identified in 1995, which enables RAD51 to bind to DNA. The genome guardians BRCA1 and BRCA2 choreograph the repair of damaged DNA.
Maintaining genome stability is essential to cellular homeostasis, where instability leads to the degradation of the living organism. DNA double-strand breaks are one of the most toxic lesions to a cell. They can be generated by exogenous sources (exposure to radiation, chemical molecules, etc.) or endogenous sources (free radicals, disruption of genome replication). These breaks must be repaired to avoid cell death. Several repair mechanisms exist, some of which preserve the genetic information, while others generate changes in the genetic make-up.
Homologous recombination is the only mechanism for conserving genetic heritage where the RAD51 protein scans the intact DNA in the genome for a sequence that will be used as a template to repair double-strand breaks, thereby maintaining genome stability.
